Veteran – MUESLI- Recipe Hightlight

If you have never made muesli…IT IS TIME.

We have posted this recipe a lot on this site but wanted to highlight and hopefully express to all of our readers how super easy and super delicious this recipe is.

It is a fabulous breakfast made from soaked whole grains, nuts, seeds and dried fruit.

Next time you are at the store, buy a whole grain cereal blend. I use a 9-grain blend with grains in their whole form (Red wheat, White Wheat, Barley, Rye, Oat, Corn, Buckwheat, Flax, Millet).

Also, make sure to have some Rolled Oats (not instant).

Now, you will need some raw NUTS & SEEDS (almonds, cashews, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, flax .etc)

And finally, DRIED FRUIT (Blueberries, Raisins, Goji, etc.)

Dried, unsweetened COCONUT flakes is a great addition as well.

Here is a basic recipe that I love to use, but you can substitute any nut & seed and any dried fruit you would like.

MUESLI Basic Recipe

2 Cups 9-Grain Blend

1 Cup Rolled Oats

1/2 Coconut (unsweetened flakes)

1/8 Cup of each of these:  Flax, Sunflower Seeds, Cashews & Almonds

1/2 cup Dried Fruit

1/2 tsp Salt

1 Tsp Cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

Mix everything together, and store in an airtight container either in your refrigerator or in your freezer.

When ready, pour 3/4 cup muesli in a bowl and pour 1 cup non-dairy milk on top.  Let soak on your counter for at least 4 hours, but overnight works great as well.  After your muesli has soaked, pour out any non-absorbed milk that you would like and top with FRESH FRUIT (diced apples, strawberries, berries, peaches, blueberries, etc.)
