I know that this site is generally dedicated to healthy eating. But for today I thought it would be okay to talk about laundry 🙂
My sister-in-law told me about “Laundry Balls”, so I thought I would give them a try.
I got on Amazon and read quite a few reviews and ended up making 2 purchases.
The first was for this 4-pack of Dryer Balls.
They supposedly help in 2 ways. The first is that they speed up the drying time by “breaking” up the bunched clothes as they rotate in the dryer.
The second way they help is be eliminating the need for dryer sheets or fabric softener. Dryer sheets and fabric softener can be a source of some harmful chemicals and the ones that I buy can be quite expensive.
So for $7 I thought I would give them a try. I put 2 in each of my dryers and put them to the test.
Well guess what…..they worked…on both accounts. My laundry did in fact take less time to dry and the clothes were not “static-y” AT ALL!
The one thing I will say is that I missed the nice smell that fabric softener or dryer sheets provide. I tried adding some essential oils to the fabric softened “slot” on my washer but that didn’t really work.
The second product that I tried was this Laundry Ball ($5)
This is supposed to eliminate the need for any detergent. I was quite skeptical until I read all of the reviews.
I tried it in my wash and and was quite surprised! It got ketchup out of a shirt without ANY detergent. However, I still felt like my clothes weren’t %100 clean. My gym clothes (and my husband’s) can get quite stinky 🙂 Maybe it was subconscious since there wasn’t that “fresh clean” smell. But I will say that I now use only 1/2 of the detergent that I used to. I will definitely buy another one for my other washing machine.
Anyway, just thought I would share….more about food next time 🙂
